Amphitheatre Oriel Plas Glyn y Weddw, Llanbedrog
Client: Oriel Plas Glyn y Weddw| Duration: 26 weeks
This project involved the construction of a new amphitheatre at Oriel Plas Glyn y Weddw art gallery near Pwllheli.
Some of the work involved in this project included:
- Creation of a temporary haul road so that the site clearance could be undertaken, which consisted of tree felling and removal of soft vegetation from the rock face
- Cutting into the rock embankment to construct a workshop, with an in-situ concrete roof acting as the main performing area
- Construction of in-situ concrete paths and steps up the embankment/rock face, with bespoke granite seating and paving flags
- Workshop and surrounding retaining walls were cladded with local stone from Nanhoron quarry
- Installation of stainless steel balustrades with glass in-fill around the performing area
- Installation of deep surface water drainage system, which was connected into the existing infrastructure.
